A passenger died in a car crash early this morning on the 1200 block of Blackwater Road, according to the Chesapeake police department. Police responded at 2:39 a.m. to a report of a traffic accident with injuries. A 2005 Ford pick-up truck was traveling south on Blackwater Road, ran off the road and struck a tree, according to police. The passenger, who is still unidentified, died at the scene. The driver, a man, was air lifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with injuries that may be life threatening. Police are still investigating whether speed or alcohol were factors.
